Combined Heat and Power for Oshawa
Oshawa PUC Networks is in the process of constructing a combined heat and power generation facility on the campus of Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario. The facility will provide a peak output of 2.4 MW of electrical power and an equal amount of thermal power in the form of hot water to select college buildings. The source of the energy is a GE Jenbacher Natural Gas Reciprocating Engine with both jacket water and exhaust gas heat recovery. FVB Energy Inc. was retained by Oshawa PUC from the conception of the project. We have provided assistance to Oshawa PUC to secure funding for the project, as well as detailed design of the CHP Facility, Distribution Piping System and Energy Transfer Stations in each of the buildings connected. The system is scheduled to be up and running in the first quarter of 2008.
